Human sphingolipids are uniquely human and are critical to children’s growth and development, skin health, and brain functioning. Under normal and healthy circumstances, they are in balanced abundance throughout our body. When they are unbalanced or exhausted in the human body, health problems arise.
To address these health problems, Carbocode brought together biotechnology and chemistry allowing it not only to identify and develop the necessary sphingolipids, but also to overcome the challenge of producing them industrially.

The manufacturing processes followed include biocatalysis, fermentation, protein and metabolic and chemical engineering and related scientific breakthroughs that have enabled many classes of human sphingolipids to be produced enabling them to offer clinically proven product solutions.

Carbocode, in order to develop glycosphingolipid technologies, is ready to scale up its production.

Starting with the purchase of Solaris’ Jupiter, the company has now decided to scale up the process, relying once again on Solaris products.
